I think you are correct. Even the New Testament alludes to this. Paul admonishes women to be modest "because of the angels" if I remember correctly. Major world religions traditionally provide for women to cover their hair. It is more, imo, than just modesty. It is a sign of being protected. I believe that the beings guilty of taking human women are restrained somehow now, yet the admonishment for female covering remains. Responsibility and authority to together. The authority of the husband is protective NOT meant to be for subjugation, I believe.
