The nephilim are literally mentioned in Genesis before the flood. The Bible supports that the Flood was because of fallen angels breeding with human women. They are describes as men of reknown, giants, etc. I once heard a pastor say "these were the men that spawned the stories of demi gods. Like Hercules".
