A thought: Have a conversation with her school's social worker or school-based person with similar title/duties. They can meet with your child during school hours, get a sense of what, if anything, is going on and they ARE duty-bound to make a report to protective services. There would be no reason for the child to go into foster care if you're active in their life already (in any capacity. Even if you're behind on child support, that shouldn't be a barrier). Even a family member could take the child! Foster care isn't automatic when other options exist.

I definitely agree that the DB blinds have certainly taken a turn for the worse, recently.
