Jacky Rosen raises more than $5 million in first weeks of October

Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) raised nearly $5.1 million for her bid to unseat Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) during the period from Oct. 1 through Oct. 17, her campaign said Friday.

She has outraised Heller in every quarter since launching her Senate bid more than a year ago.

In a federal filing earlier this week, Rosen reported raking in nearly $7.1 million between July 1 and Sept. 30, ending the period with roughly $2.6 million in cash on hand.

By comparison, Heller raised just short of $2.2 million in the third fundraising quarter, though he finished the period with slightly more cash than Rosen – about $2.7 million.

Rosen is battling to oust Heller, one of the most vulnerable Senate Republicans, in a state won narrowly by Hillary Clinton in 2016. The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, currently rates the race as a "toss-up."

Despite Heller's vulnerability, he has bounced back in public polls in recent weeks, with most surveys showing him with a narrow lead over Rosen. An Emerson College poll conducted earlier this month showed the incumbent Republican ahead by 7 points.

POTUS wants us to vote early.

Maybe this is why:

Steve Chabot vs. Aftab Pureval: Republicans outpacing Democrats in early voting/absentee ballots

Republican voters in Ohio's hotly contested 1st Congressional District have gotten a head start.

The race for the district that covers parts of Hamilton County and all of Warren County has received national attention as key for control of Congress. But if there's going to be a so-called "blue wave" of Democratic support, the early voting numbers don't show it yet.

The race pits Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Westwood against Democrat Aftab Pureval. Based on ballots issued by the end of the first week of early voting, signs look favorable for Chabot.

The number of Republican absentee ballots issued in the 1st Congressional District outpaced Democratic ballots 24,820 to 13,532, statistics from the boardsof elections of Warren and Hamilton County revealed.

LIBERAL MALE BILLIONAIRE IS SOLE FUNDING SOURCE FOR ‘REPUBLICAN WOMEN’ PAC SUPPORTING DEMOCRATS

Liberal billionaire Reid Hoffman is the sole funding source for a political action committee (PAC) claiming to represent Republican women alienated by President Donald Trump, Federal Election Committee (FEC) filings show.

Hoffman, a major Democratic donor best known for co-founding LinkedIn, gave $400,000 to Republican Women for Progress PAC on Sept. 27, the group’s October quarterly filings show. The PAC has not reported any other donations.

The women’s group is using Hoffman’s money to boost female Democratic candidates in Kentucky, Michigan and New Jersey in November’s midterm elections.

Republican Women for Progress PAC spent $78,000 boosting Amy McGrath’s campaign for Kentucky’s sixth congressional seat, noted the Washington Free Beacon, which first reported on Friday that Hoffman was funding the GOP women’s group.

The women’s group spent $76,000 supporting New Jersey Democratic congressional candidate Mikie Sherrill, FEC files show.

The PAC took out a pair of $50,000 ad buys supporting two Democratic candidates running in Michigan, the Detroit Metro Times previously reported.

Hoffman’s other donations this cycle include giving $3 million to a PAC aligned with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, $2 million to a PAC aligned with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and $1 million to a PAC ran by former Obama officials.

Sir Michael Caine on Brexit: 'I'd Rather Be a Poor Master of My Fate' Than a Slave to EU Bureaucrats

Sir Michael Caine, the iconic British actor who has a net worth of $78 million, said he strongly supports Brexit – the plan for England to leave the European Union (EU) next year – and stressed that he doesn't listen to the liberal pundits who claim that Brexit will make people poorer and added that it is better to be "a poor master of my fate" than to rely on a stranger to supposedly make "me rich by running it."

"I don't listen to all these pundits," said Caine on the Oct. 18 broadcast of BBC Radio 4 Today. "I'm a Brexiteer myself. Certainly."

He continued, "People say, 'Oh, you'll be poor, you'll be this, you'll be that.'"

"I say I'd rather be a poor master of my fate than having someone I don't know making me rich by running it," said Caine, who is married and has two children and three grandchildren.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump rattled off a list of 14 he plans to do – if Republicans hold on to control of both the House and Senate as a result of November’s midterm elections.

Speaking at a rally in Montana, Trump listed, in rapid order, more than two dozen goals – half of them immigration-related – with continued majorities in both houses of Congress.

“If you vote to elect a Republican House and a Republican Senate, we will”:

1.“Continue to cut your taxes,”

  1. Cut your regulations,”

  2. Raise your income,“

  3. “Make our country great again,”

  4. “Protect Medicare and Social Security,”

  5. “Continue confirming judges who interpret the Constitution as written,”

  6. “Fully secure the border,”

  7. “Pass Kate’s law,”

  8. “Stop sanctuary cities,”

10.“Stop catch-and-lease,”

11.“End the visa lottery,“

12.“End chain migration,”

13.“Keep the criminal drug dealers and terrorists the hell out of our country,” and

14.“Lift millions of our citizens from welfare to work, dependence to independence, and from poverty to prosperity.”

American Women Can Now Get Abortions by Mail

Women in the U.S. can now get abortion pills shipped to them with a few clicks of the mouse, through a new online service called Aid Access.

Aid Access was launched by Dr. Rebecca Gomperts “six months ago” but has been kept “quiet,” according to The Atlantic.

Gomperts, who also founded Women on Web, the mail-order abortion program that ships abortion pills to non-U.S. residents, estimated that Aid Access “has already sent pills to 600 women.”

The new service makes abortion much easier for American women, eliminating “mandatory 24-72 hour waiting periods” and “the requirement of parental consent for minors,” according to Aid Access.

After accessing the website, women under nine weeks pregnant can complete an online consultation and “the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol” will be delivered to them by mail. A payment of $95 is encouraged, but the site offers to “try to help” women who cannot afford the price. The pills come with “clear instructions,” and a helpline is available to answer questions.

“The aim of the website and service is to create social justice and improve the health status and human rights of women who cannot access locally available abortion services,” the website reads, identifying Aid Access as a team of doctors and “long-term abortion rights activists.”

According to The Atlantic, Gomperts “will herself fill each woman’s prescription for misoprostol and mifepristone.”
