They started marketing vacation tours of "The Holy Land" in the 70's.
Preachers loved it, getting all those paid (by their church) vacations.
All they had to do was accept the brain-dead theology the Jews had already put in their seminaries.
And the Jews over there were raking in the cash.
I remember when all that started. I was just a kid, but an informed one.
Some preachers were really ashamed of the other ones.
So for many the JQ would remain an off-limits topic on both sides.
