Get a .45 Bigger caliber, heavier bullet, but slower and recoil is more of a push than a snap. Sig 227. Love mine. EAA Witness another lower cost option. .40 cal can be just a little too hot for some.

Compact models like sig 250 an option too but thats polymer. If you want a little more weight, look at Kimber carry pieces in .45. More expensive but all metal frame.
