Had to say a bit more because people bandy around "acts model church" and act like a mega church can be an acts model church.
Bullshit. Acts model churches have NO MORE than about 120 people and generally 60 or less. Coincidentally, this is the same number of people that you can get to know on a personal level according to scientists, and the same number that the Amish use as a reference before splitting off to form a new church.
Now, the question is whether or not your parents can reform the church that they are in and destroy the current leadership?
It's possible- I grew up in a church that called a pastor and then some of the people in the church weren't happy so the pastor resigned and we called another pastor. 71% of the people in the church weren't happy with the new pastor and tried to get him thrown out. We needed 75% to get him out.... so 71% of the church left and formed a new church and never hired another preacher. The men of the church deliver the sermon every Sunday and none of them have theological training.
If you want to listen to our former pastor, he works for WCTS radio in Minneapolis now. I don't see his name on the program lists so not sure when he's on the radio. I would also highly recommend their church if you are in the area.
