I've been studying in depth the subject of Christ's return. There are actually 2 (two) separate returns. One is the gathering together/departure of the Saints (born again believers). The other is when Christ returns with his army to fight against evil (Rev.) - this is referred to as the Day of the Lord or the Lord's day. This is very different, I'm finding, than the gathering together.
Here in II Thess 2 it is talking about the day of the Lord, NOT the gathering together, but it is referring to the Lord's day NOT coming prior to the gathering together....i.e.
"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day (the Day of the Lord) shall not come, except there come a falling away (departure) first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition (the AntiChrist)."
"Falling away" is the Greek word apostasia which can be rendered "a departure", a physical removal of oneself or others from one place to another. This makes more sense since the son of perdition (the antichrist) will not be revealed until AFTER all the Christians (true born again believers, filled with Holy Spirit) who are currently restraining him are removed. This fits more when you rightly divide the word of truth. Remember - God says that we are saved from the wrath. If we are saved from it then it only makes sense that we are not going to endure it, therefore we are not going to be here to endure it, at least not in our current forms.
There's so much to studying the end times in the Bible, but I'm finding that a lot of what's been taught by man made religion is absolutely FALSE!
