Notice how the comments are often very similar. Notice how the pictures on the accounts of the likes/comments all contain the same things..

Children.

These people don't just deal in money. They deal in humans, organs, weapons, drugs, etc.

They need some way to coordinate it on a micro level, and FB provides exactly that platform. The symbolism and communication are there.
