I assume it's under CodeMonkey's control at the server side, and unchecking it helps them reduce server load while they are dealing with the ongoing DDoS attacks. Or while unchecked, it reduces the number of IP addresses hitting the board, making it easier to spot and ID the attackers so they can block them at the data center.

It's no worse than a minor inconvenience for anons. Deal with it.
