"National Emergency" - President Trump To Cut Central American Aid As Mexico Loses Control Of Migrant Army

Since President Trump threatened to close the Southern border due to Honduras' unwillingness to comply with his requests for assistance in stopping a migrant caravan marching toward the US, the migrants have successfully crossed into Mexico and on Sunday regrouped after being temporarily delayed at the Mexican border by border guards who failed to force the migrants to turn back.

So, for the second time this year, it appears President Trump is ready to send more US troops to the border, as he said in a tweet Monday morning that he'd notified the border patrol and military that this is a "national emergency" while reiterating that the blame lay with Democrats for refusing to change our "pathetic" immigration laws.

The president also claimed that "unkown Middle Easterners" had become "mixed in" with the caravan.

And since Honduras and Guatemala did nothing to stop the migrants despite Trump's requests for assistance, the president added that we would be cutting off aid: "We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them."

The backlash to the migrants has intensified over the weekend, as the mile-long caravan has continued unimpeded toward the US's southern border. Amusingly, liberals bullied the Associated Press on Sunday into correcting one of its headlines after the wire service described the caravan as an "army of migrants".

"A ragged, growing army of migrants resumes march toward US,” read the original headline on the AP story. The AP later changed the headline to replace the word "army" with "caravan."

Though the AP has used the word "army" to refer to large groups of people besides migrants - including nurses and political activists - many on the political left criticized the wire service for its original headline.

Meanwhile, videos have emerged of people handing out cash to the migrants, raising suspicions that the caravan has received outside funding for its assault on the southern border.

Rosenstein Testimony to be Held in SCIF – Transcribed Interview Will Have Redactions

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will face lawmakers on Wednesday for a closed-door interview about his plot to wear a wire and oust Trump from office.

House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte announced Thursday that Rosenstein will appear on Capitol Hill October 24th for a closed-door, transcribed interview.

According to the House Judiciary announcement, only 4 members from the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees will be present:

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) announced Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will appear on October 24, 2018, for a transcribed interview conducted by Chairmen Bob Goodlatte and Trey Gowdy and Ranking Members Jerry Nadler and Elijah Cummings.

Rosenstein is calling the shots and demanded his interview be held in a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) with multiple Republican lawmakers excluded.

Catherine Herridge reported Monday that Rosenstein’s transcribed interview will be withheld from the public for a prolonged period of time because it must be reviewed by the intelligence community before it is released.

When Rosenstein’s interview is finally released to the public, it will have redactions.

Reps. Meadows and Gaetz lashed out at the restrictive guidelines put in place for Rosenstein’s testimony.

“This is no way to conduct oversight,” Congressman Gaetz said.

New twist in Khashoggi mystery: MBS spoke to journalist moments before his death, report claims

Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman phoned Jamal Khashoggi and tried to convince him to return to Riyadh, just moments before the dissident journalist was killed in the kingdom’s Istanbul consulate, a new report claims.

The prince contacted Khashoggi shortly after he was detained inside the consulate, Turkish pro-government paper Yeni Safak reported on Sunday, citing its own sources. ‘Extremely dangerous’: Hurricane Willa bears down on Mexico as it nears category 5

Hurricane Willa, a huge and life threatening storm that’s approaching category 5 status, could devastate Mexico’s western coast, forecasters warn.

The hurricane has grown rapidly as it made its way across the Pacific Ocean, its winds increasing from 40mph to 155mph in 48 hours. The US National Hurricane Center has warned that the storm system and could “produce life threatening storm surge, wind and rainfall” in Mexico on Tuesday.

Willa is expected to reach category 5 status on Monday – the highest classification for hurricanes. Forecasters predict it will make landfall between the resort towns of Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

Some areas could see up to 18 inches of rainfall, likely triggering flash flooding and landslides in mountainous areas. A hurricane warning has also been issued for Mexico’s western coast between San Blas and Mazatlan.

Meanwhile, tropical storm Vicente, forecast to strike the south of Mexico, is expected to be reduced to a tropical depression by Monday night or early Tuesday. It will still produce heavy rainfall and flooding in parts of the south and southeast.

New YouTube Policy May Be Influenced By Soros Funded Report

The YouTuber Keemstar recently brought attention to a new YouTube policy announced in The Guardian. On Twitter, Keemstar posted a screenshot from the Guardian article regarding YouTube's updated terms of service related to the Super Chat system. Super Chat allows viewers to donate to the YouTuber when they comment during livestreams. The greater the amount donated, the longer the time the comment stays on screen.

The Super Chat functionality was added in early 2017 and by May The Verge and Buzzfeed had already written editorials warning of how Super Chats were "an abomination from a capitalist dystopia" that was being used (or abused) by white nationalists and racists to push hate speech.

YouTube's latest update allows YouTube to divert funds from Super Chats if they deem the speech to be inappropriate. The Guardian article, it explains that YouTube will donate the revenue to a charity rather than splitting it between YouTube and the channel owner. The general YouTube terms of service don't mention Super Chats and in the section from the YouTube guidelines regarding Super Chats there was no codified mention of the new policy yet, neither was there any mention of it in the sections on discrimination, hate speech or other abuses of the platform.

FDA Moving Forward With Approval Of Strongest Opioid On Market

FDA's Anesthetic and Analgesic Drug Products Advisory Committee recommended approval via a 10-3 vote, final decision is scheduled for November 3rd. The FDA generally follows the Advisory Committee's recommendation but has no obligation to do so.

Speaking out against the drug is committee chair Dr. Raeford Brown who worries that the dosage form would make it divertible, allowing it to end up in the hands of those who don't have a prescription.

The consumer advocacy group Public Citizen co-signed a letter along with Dr. Brown and Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass).

Bangladeshis Joined Migrant Caravan In Guatemala, Univision Correspondent Reports

A Spanish language reporter who has spent weeks embedded with the migrant caravan said in a Friday report that people from Bangladesh had joined the mass of people trying to cross from Guatemala into Mexico.

Univision correspondent Francisco Santa Anna reported from the bridge separating Guatemala and Mexico. The bridge has been packed with thousands of migrants demanding access to Mexico, with the ultimate goal of crossing the border of the United States illegally. The caravan has now swelled to many thousands.

The Bangladeshis, he said, were detained in an immigration facility, though it’s not clear what happened to them after their detention.

“The borders in Central American are not as strong as the U.S., which makes it possible for people from Panama and Ecuador to cross easily,” Santa Anna said on Univision. “They cross from Costa Rica, then later go through Guatemala and eventually make it into our country.”

“Yesterday when we were traveling through Guatemala, we noticed people from El Salvador and even people from Bangladesh,” he continued. “Can you imagine what they had to do to get here? They infiltrated themselves in this caravan and tried to cross with the crowd. That would have benefited them greatly.”

Bangladesh has one of the largest populations of Muslims in the world. Its 141 million Muslims is more than the combined populations of Iran, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, Georgetown University professor C. Christine Fair noted in an essay in Lawfare.

The country is “increasingly the site of Islamist violence,” Fair wrote.

According to the essay “Political Islam and Islamist Terrorism in Bangladesh: What You Need to Know”:

Reporters Without Borders report says numbers are “alarming”.

Forty-seven journalists, media workers and citizen journalists were killed in the first six months of 2018, according to a report by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

Describing these figures as “alarming”, RSF said 2018 is off to a “troubling start” after 2017 was one of the “deadliest years ever” for the media.

The organisation is working tirelessly on the investigations into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia who was killed in a car bomb on 16 October, 2017.

Recently, it condemned the smear campaign launched by the Maltese government in response to the revelations of the “Daphne Project,” a consortium of 18 media organisations investigating the murder and the stories that Caruana Galizia was reporting on at the time of her death. RSF said the campaign is targeting both the Daphne Project and Caruana Galizia’s family.

The breakdown of figures for the first half of 2018 is 36 professional journalists, nine citizen-journalists and two media workers killed worldwide.

The deadliest countries are Afghanistan with 11 journalists killed, Syria with seven, Yemen with five, and Mexico with five. Yet, RSF has raised the alarm on the pressures placed on journalists by the rise of populism in Europe.

In addition, only yesterday five people were killed in a targeted shooting of a newsroom in Maryland, US.
