NEW YORK DAILY NEWS: President Trump calls migrant caravan a 'National Emergy' — and Twitter responds.
President Trump’s latest tweet is a “National Emergy.”
The American commander-in-chief misspelled the word “emergency” in a Monday morning Twitter post regarding the caravan of Honduran migrants traveling through Mexico toward the United States.
“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in,” Trump tweeted. “I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!”
The misspelling led to some mocking from Twitter users, including one with the username Mark Power who wrote, “It's like an emergency, just not quite as emergent.”
Another with the username Michael Christopher tweeted, “Emergy! Emergy! Somebody call 911!!”
YouTube commentator John Iadarola tweeted, “Low Emergy Donald,” appearing to call back to Trump referring to his former Republican running opponent Jeb Bush as “Low-energy Jeb.”
Another user with the Twitter handle @Bojangl50257862, meanwhile, seemed to reference the “President Alert” sent to millions of people’s phones earlier month by writing, “Emergy?!?! Are you going to text our phones.”
Trump continued to address the situation in a pair of posts following that initial tweet.
“Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws! Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally,” the President wrote.
“Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S. We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them.”
Trump has often made headlines for his typos on Twitter, including him famously writing “covfefe” in a post last year.
