The other thing to think about is that during the Obama years and the IRS targeting of Republicans, many registered Republicans (including myself) switched to registered Independent. Switching in the hopes of not being further targeted by the IRS. I never had been audited by the IRS, until the Obama years. I started to be audited every year. Until I switched from Republican to Independent. So, I think the Independents are most likely right leaning and most all will vote for Republican candidates.
