The Israeli army struck eight Hamas targets in three different military compounds in the Gaza Strip late Wednesday night, official sources say.
According to Israel Defense Force's Spokesperson's Unit the attack was carried out in response to a rocket fired into southern Israel earlier Wednesday night.
Rocket sirens sounded in the southern Israeli regional councils of Merhavim and Eshkol near the Gaza border late on Wednesday evening. Residents in the communities reported hearing expolsions. No casualties were reported as investigations continue.
