Police are trying to determine the identity of a body that was recovered earlier today from the Potomac River in Georgetown. A pair of kayakers found the body floating upstream from Key Bridge Boathouse (formerly known as Jack's Boathouse) shortly after noon, a boathouse employee says.

WASHINGTON — Authorities found a body in the Potomac River Monday morning.

D.C. Fire and EMS says a crew retrieved the body from the channel that runs between the Roosevelt Island and the Virginia shoreline around 6:45 a.m. At this point, police aren’t even sure of the person’s gender.

Authorities have located a body on the Potomac River near the area where authorities have been searching for a missing Manassas boater. The body has not been identified. A citizen found a possible body on Monday near the pier at Tim’s River Shore and contacted authorities, Prince William police spokesperson Officer Nathan Probus said. The two men decided to swim for the shore. The 21-year-old was able to reach the shore in Maryland, Albert said.

CHARLES CO. – Maryland Natural Resources Police have identified two bodies recovered from the Potomac River Sunday. Fermin Alvarado, 45, Matias Alvarado-Arrue, 31. They are brothers from Woodbridge, Virginia. NRP started searching for two missing brothers after they say a small boat overturned in the afternoon at the mouth of Mattawoman Creek. The first body was recovered around 4:15 p.m. and the second was found around 6:50 p.m.

Man's body found in Potomac River in D.C., police say by WJLA Wednesday, May 16th 2018

WASHINGTON (WJLA) — A man's body was found in the Potomac River Tuesday evening in D.C.

Metropolitan Police say the unidentified man was unconscious and not breathing when he was located. His body floated approximately 10 feet off the shoreline of Dangerfield Island in the Potomac. According to investigators, there does not appear to be signs of foul play.

A body was found in the early morning of Wednesday, July 4, in the Potomac River. The location was between the Key Bridge Boathouse and the Three Sisters islands, upstream from Key Bridge along the Georgetown waterfront. The unidentified man, with a gash on his forehead, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to WTOP. The incident happened around 7 a.m.

Police discovered a body in the Potomac River just off Gravelly Point this afternoon (Monday).

A D.C. police spokeswoman says the department’s Harbor Patrol made the discovery, but did not have any additional details on the incident. Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage added that her department is assisting in the investigation, as are the U.S. Park Police. The area is located just off the G.W. Parkway and sits across the river from Reagan National Airport.
