>Whenever a lightning and windstorm combined near our home, blue ball lightening would appear to hover over the surface of the shrub in addition to the sparkling.

Dry wind passing across a large, ungrounded metal surface like the aluminum skin of a mobile home will generate a large electrostatic charge.

The shrub, with its roots grounded in the earth and rubbing on the mobile home became the conductor to release the static charge into the ground because of the conductivity of the moisture retained in its foliage.

Same reason blue ball lightning will run down a barb wire fence. Fence acquires static charge from wind passing over it combined with the polarity of the atmosphere vs that of the ground.
