Federal agents have arrested and detained a suspect in connection with a string of suspicious packages sent to prominent Democratic and left-wing figures over the last week.
“We can confirm one person is in custody,” a Justice Department Spokeswoman tweeted on Friday. A law enforcement official told Reuters that other potential suspects are also being looked at.

Russia’s FSB busts ISIS cell planning terrorist acts in Moscow
An Islamic State terrorist cell that was planning attacks in the Russian capital was detained in Moscow Region on Friday, Russia’s Security Service (FSB) said.
The group consisted of six members, who received commands from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) terrorist kingpins in Syria, the FSB said in a statement.
“The detained planned to carry out resonant terrorist attacks in Moscow, using both firearms and improvised explosive devices,” the statement read.
The group was funded by money transfers from abroad and through local criminal activity. It put much effort into covering up its operations and avoiding detection by police.

Papadopoulos threatens to pull out of Mueller plea agreement
Former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos said on Friday that he is considering withdrawing from a cooperation agreement he entered into with special counsel Robert Mueller, the investigator probing allegations of collusion between the 2016 Trump campaign and the Russian government.
“I believe there was tremendous misconduct on the government’s behalf regarding my case,” Papadopoulos told “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade. “And given certain information I learned just yesterday that I can’t publicly disclose right now, I’m actually even considering withdrawing my agreement I have come to with the government.”
Papadopoulos, who advised the Trump campaign on foreign policy issues and was sentenced in September to two weeks in jail despite reaching a plea deal with Mueller for lying to investigators, said he felt he had been “set up” by the government and that his plea deal was the result of inadequate counsel.
“Let’s just say maybe it was chaotic moment when I pled and that’s exactly why I have new counsel now,” he said. “And we are actively looking into new options. And possibly withdrawing from this agreement right now.”

Border Patrol Union Chief: Deep State Still Exists at Agency, Working Against Trump's Border Policies
A U.S. Border Patrol union official said Thursday on "Fox & Friends" he believes a so-called "deep state" still exists within the federal agency, frustrating President Trump's border enforcement policies.
Brandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, recalled that when his group endorsed President Trump in March 2016, he received immediate pushback from top officials at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
He said he was asked by then-Deputy Commissioner Kevin McAleenan to rescind the endorsement on behalf of Border Patrol agents, which he refused to do.
