was just going over the news while sipping covfefe. Not sure if this was posted already, but it caught my eye, so I'll just drop it here.

It doesn't seem to be the simple problem of (combinatorics) arranging numbers 1 through n in all possible permutations (w/o repetitions), which would be n!. "Overlapping" is allowed, so the problem becomes a bit more complex. Check

for a more elaborate explanation of the problem.

>There is no personal shame greater than giving up on a problem, watching the answer, and thinking you totally could have gotten it yourself

Well, there's greater self-shaming in this world than by giving up on a problem.

But I agree, it can be frustrating – however, reasons to give up can be manifold, and, after all, at least I don't seek solutions for myself and my fame, but for learning/understanding. No shame in learning from solutions derived by others.
