I recorded the police scanner during this shooter event today and there is a point where they are shouting (on the scanner) "shots fired, shots fired!" and almost simultaneously Fox News says "everything seems calm, they must have everything under control."

They were using radio information that should never be put on the public scanner radio. (I am an EMT and know this from FEMA testing…) They were making a production of it, including putting the guys first and last name (Robert Bowers) and his Birthday on the scanner (which is a no-no). That was just one example but how would they even KNOW his name and bday if he was not apprehended?

Plus they had 4 different descriptions of what he was wearing. Green jacket, dark pants; Green vest, dark pants, blue shirt, blue pants; and finally green vest and khaki's and they didn't "know if he changed," (30 seconds prior there was a different description, how could he change in 30 seconds or at all if live rounds were being fired?

Why would the news (I flipped thru all channels) not reporting hearing shots fired? This is nuts.

Definitely weird. It may coincide with the very reason I started to record the event anyway. I heard on the scanner someone asking for a pediatric officer for a school (why were kids in school on a Saturday?) and the response was "they will have to figure this out on their own." After some shock and radio silence that someone would say that about kids close by an active fire situation he got back on and clarified that they were to shelter in place.

I saw on the news later (about the time he was apprehended or a few minutes before) a child being lead to her mother and escorted away by a fireman.

That was very weird, I agree. I did hear that. I wasn't sure how it was even relatable. The mother was banging on the door to get in and then got in and the female was trying to separate herself from her mother. Why was that even on that radio channel that should have been secured by dispatch for this even ONLY.

Thanks for the exact date. NOT a distraction, a piece to the puzzle. It still is very strange the variations from what was transpiring on the scanner to what was happening say on the news. Nothing adds up.

Notice how now days during these events on the scanners they call the supposed criminal, "actors." Seems to line up with, as you said, a drill preceding an event.
