A group of 7,000 plus immigrants from Central America has been making its way through Mexico towards the United States border, with clear intentions: enter the U.S., even if that means violating American immigration laws.

One of the key organizers behind the caravan, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, or “People Without Borders,” want to fly under the radar, but we’re here to help lift the veil.

The New York Times has said that “no group has claimed responsibility for organizing [the most recent] caravan,” but claiming responsibility and quietly funding are two different things entirely.

Though no single group has claimed control over the migrant caravan, at least two activists from Pueblo Sin Fronteras -Rodrigo Arbeja and Denis Omar Contreras – are embedded in the caravan, according to USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and the Mexican newspaper La Jordana.

Contreras (often spelled Contera or Contera) reportedly helped to lead the caravan to illegally enter Mexico, where he told migrants “Welcome to Tapachula!” (a town near the Guatemala border). Abeja was also identified as one of the leaders of the caravans in April 2018, also backed by Pueblo Sin Fronteras.

‘Human Caravan’ Turns Down Asylum Offer By Mexico Government – Declares Intent To Keep Marching Into America

It is a move that will do nothing to diminish the belief by many that the ‘human caravan’ marching from Central America to the United States is nothing more than a paid political stunt intended to create chaos and division at the U.S./Mexico southern border. The self-proclaimed ‘refugees’ have been granted asylum by the Mexican government. These refugees refused which would indicate they are not refugees at all—but something else entirely.

ARRIAGA, Mexico — Several thousand Central American migrants turned down a Mexican offer of benefits if they applied for refugee status and stayed in the country’s two southernmost states, vowing to set out before dawn Saturday to continue their long trek toward the U.S. border.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto announced what he called the “You are at home” plan, offering shelter, medical attention, schooling and jobs to Central Americans in Chiapas and Oaxaca states if they applied, calling it a first step toward permanent refugee status. Authorities said more than 1,700 had already applied for refugee status.

But after one of the caravan’s longest days of walking and hanging from passing trucks, the bulk of the migrants were boisterous Friday evening in their refusal to accept anything less than safe passage to the U.S. border.

China spends $328 billion on transport infrastructure from January to September: ministry

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China’s total fixed asset investment in transport infrastructure hit 2.28 trillion yuan ($327.77 billion) from January to September this year, up 1.4 percent from a year earlier, according to government data published on Friday.

China is increasing infrastructure spending in order to boost its slowing economy. The value of fixed-asset investment projects approved in the third quarter of this year hit 437.4 billion yuan, more than four times the amount during the April-June period, according to Reuters calculations.

According to a briefing by the Ministry of Transport, China’s spending on high-speed highways reached 702.6 billion yuan, up 12 percent on the year, though much of the increase was offset by declines in investment in rural road infrastructure.

China has promised to boost its railway freight capacity in order to ease traffic congestion and pollution. The ministry said rail freight volumes rose 7.9 percent in the first three quarters, with deliveries of coal by rail rising around 10 percent.

Nuclear Stockpile Declassification Sought

The Federation of American Scientists asked the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense to declassify and disclose the current size of the U.S. nuclear stockpile, as they have done in past years.

The number of nuclear weapons presently in the U.S. arsenal is deemed “Formerly Restricted Data” (FRD) that is classified under the Atomic Energy Act. Unlike information that is classified by executive order, there is no provision for automatic declassification of such information. Furthermore, information that is classified as FRD requires the concurrence of both the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense in order to be declassified.

But there is a provision of DOE regulations that enables anyone to request the declassification of specific FRD. And so we (once again) invoked that provision to request declassification of the stockpile size.

“We have formally sent this [request] over to the DoD for their consideration,” said Dr. Andrew Weston-Dawkes, director of the DOE Office of Classification, to whom the request was directed.

Woman stabs 14 kids in Chinese kindergarten

A total of 14 children are being treated for stab and slash injuries after a woman wielding a kitchen knife attacked pupils at the gate of a kindergarten in Chongqing, southwest China, according to police.

The attack took place as the children were being led back to class from a nearby park after their morning exercise on Friday.

Identified by local police only by her surname, Liu, the 39-year-old assailant was apprehended by the kindergarten teachers and security guards.

One witness told CNN that elderly people out shopping had intervened to stop the woman, adding that “the teachers were dumbstruck.”

Distressing footage of her arrest has surfaced online, showing a fierce confrontation between the woman, flanked by police officers, and angry bystanders.
