CA - Pedo P.E. Teacher Accused of Abusing 8 Little School Children

A lawsuit filed by the parents of a 9-year old against school administrators in the Bossier Parish School system accuses the officials of miserably failing in their duty to protect students from a pedophile teacher. A P.E. teacher at Benton Elementary School is the subject of an expanding investigation over sexual harassment allegations.

47-year-old Aubrey “Perry” Norcross, of Bossier City, is being accused of victimizing eight children. He faces charges of one count of child rape, four counts of molestation of a juvenile, two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of video voyeurism.

Norcross served as the P.E. teacher of the child in the lawsuit, and the parents of the little girl are saying that the Bossier Parish school system failed to protect the child by not recognizing or addressing the actions of Norcross.

The suit filed on Thursday in Bossier District Court says: “The Bossier Parish School Board breached its duty to provide a safe educational environment for students at Benton Elementary when it negligently hired, supervised and retained Aubrey Norcross.”

Named as defendants in the lawsuit are the school system and Norcross, who was arrested last week on charges of video voyeurism with one student and rape of another.

Norcross is jailed under $2 million bond. He has not been arraigned.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington said more people came forward with allegations against the P.E. teacher after his arrest was made public. He said those victims include both boys and girls.

Detectives have interviewed the children and have also been reviewing school security video, computers and at least one mobile phone for their probe on the matter.

One of the allegations shared by Edward Mouton, the attorney for the child who is the alleged victim of video voyeurism, is that Norcross used his mobile during gym class to record the child for “a lewd or lascivious purpose.” Mouton said even the surveillance video can establish that the abuse did happen.

The new lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and mental anguish.

Since a child is involved, the identity of the parents in the lawsuit have been withheld. Not many details were provided except to describe that the child was a victim of “despicable acts during the school day.”’

For their part, school system Superintendent Scott Smith insists that the school administrators had no idea that a teacher was doing anything improper at that time of the alleged abuses.

Muslim groups raise stunning amount of money for victims of synagogue massacre in less than 24 hours

An online crowdfunding page created by two Muslim groups has raised over $50,000 for victims of Saturday’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, synagogue massacre.

What are the details?

The campaign, which was kicked off on LaunchGood, debuted Saturday. In less than 24 hours, the site has received more than $50,000 in donations to be given to shooting victims, their families, and their loved ones.

The page’s initial goal was to reach $25,000, but that amount of money was amassed in just six hours. The groups forged on, in an effort to see how much people would donate.

The page reads, “The Muslim-American community extends its hands to help the shooting victims, whether it is the injured victims, or the Jewish families who have lost loved ones. We wish to respond to evil with good, as our faith instructs us, and send a powerful message of compassion through action.”

“Through this campaign,” the page adds, “we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate and violence in America. We pray that this restores a sense of security and peace to the Jewish-American community who has undoubtedly been shaken by this event.”

The two non-profit organizations behind the fundraiser are MPower Change and Celebrate Mercy. The groups have partnered with the Islamic Center of Pittsburgh in order to disburse the funds once the fundraiser ends.

What’s the background?

At least 11 lives were lost during the Saturday mass killing at The Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Several more people — including four area police officers — were injured in the attack.

The suspected mass killer has been charged with 29 federal charges, including 11 counts of use of a firearm to commit murder during a crime of violence.

The Department of Justice charged the suspect with 11 counts of criminal homicide, and 13 counts of ethnic intimidation. Other charges include 11 counts of obstruction of exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death, four counts of obstruction of exercise of religious beliefs resulting in bodily injury to a public safety officer, and three counts of use and discharge of a firearm during a crime of violence.

The mass killing is being investigated as a federal hate crime. If convicted, the suspect could face the death penalty.

Family lawyer says Cesar Sayoc does not have the intellectual capacity to be package bomber

Lowy had represented accused package bomber Cesar Altieri Sayoc, 56, in the past (Sayoc had been arrested nine times, not including his arrest yesterday for sending package bombs to a plethora of prominent Democrats), and currently represents Sayoc’s family — his mother and sister.

Yesterday, in an exclusve CNN interview, Lowy described Sayoc as mentally ill — a “sick individual” who is lost and needs help, who “didn’t react like a normal individual” and “wasn’t working on all cylinders”.

Although Sayoc in a tweet had claimed to be a Seminole, Lowy said (0:30 mark):

“Well, he was clearly not Native-American. His father was Filipino and abandoned him as a child and his mother is Italian. And he adopted this claim to being a Seminole because he was trying to create an identity. If you ask me, again my layman’s opinion, is that manifested from his lack of a father and his desire for an identity. This was someone lost…. And he found a father in Trump.”

Despite Anderson Cooper’s efforts to cut him off, Lowy persisted and said this at the end of the interview (3:12 mark):

“He [Sayoc] never seems sophisticated enough to do something like he’s accused of. And I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that there were either others who helped prod or encouraged him to do this, or that the bombs in fact were so crudely made, they never could have worked, because he didn’t seem to have the intellectual capacity to plan a conspiracy like this in my opinion.”

A longtime friend of Cesar Sayoc is a former CIA officer.

In a social media post in 2016, Sayoc wrote: “I would like to wish my great friend from Academy 9 yrs military school Ricki a happy birthday and lifetime from CIA. Congrats on your invention and many successes my brother.”

Trump Surrenders to John Bolton on Russia and Arms Control

Of course he's not the first president the arch hawk has convinced to ditch a nuke treaty.

Declaring that “there is a new strategic reality out there,” President Donald Trump’s hardline national security advisor John Bolton announced during a visit to Moscow earlier this week that the United States would be withdrawing from the 31-year-old Intermediate Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty. “This was a Cold War bilateral ballistic missile-related treaty,” Bolton said, “in a multi-polar ballistic missile world.”

“It is the American position that Russia is in violation,” Bolton told reporters after a 90-minute meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. “Russia’s position is that they aren’t. So one has to ask how to ask the Russians to come back into compliance with something they don’t think they’re violating.”

Left unsaid by Bolton was the fact that the Russians have been asking the U.S. to provide evidence to substantiate its allegations of Russian noncompliance, something it so far has not done. “The Americans have failed to provide hard facts to substantiate their accusations,” a Kremlin spokesperson noted last December after a U.S. delegation was briefed NATO on the allegations. “They just cannot provide them, because such evidence essentially does not exist.”

Bolton’s declaration mirrored an earlier statement by Trump announcing that “I’m terminating the agreement because [the Russians] violated the agreement.” When asked if his comments were meant as a threat to Putin, Trump responded, “It’s a threat to whoever you want. And it includes China, and it includes Russia, and it includes anybody else that wants to play that game. You can’t do that. You can’t play that game on me.”

Trump appears to have surrendered to the anti-arms control philosophy of John Bolton, who views such agreements as unduly restricting American power. (Bolton was also behind the 2001 decision by President George W. Bush to withdraw from the 1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, an act the Russians viewed as inherently destabilizing.) By involving China, which was not a signatory to the INF Treaty, into the mix, the president appears to be engaging in a crude negotiating gambit designed to shore up a weak case for leaving the 1987 arms control agreement by playing on previous Russian sensitivities about Chinese nuclear capabilities.

In 2007, Putin had threatened to withdraw from the INF Treaty because of these reasons. “We are speaking about the plans of a number of neighboring countries developing short- and mid-range missile systems,” Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesperson, said at the time, citing China, India and Pakistan. “While our two countries [the U.S. and Russia] are bound by the provisions of the INF treaty there will be a certain imbalance in the region.”

Although unspoken, both Bolton and Trump appear to be trying to drive a wedge between Russia and China. They’re doing so as those two nations are coming together to craft a joint response to what they view as American overreach on trade and international security. While the Russian concerns over Chinese INF capabilities might have held true a decade ago, that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer.

Israel Sells $250Mln Worth of Cutting Edge Spy Systems to Saudi Arabia – Reports

Tel Aviv hasn’t confirmed the reports, nor has the Gulf kingdom, which doesn’t have official diplomatic ties with the Jewish state.

Saudi Arabia and Israel held covert meetings “in Washington and London,” which resulted in an estimated $250 million deal, including the transfer of Israeli espionage technologies to the kingdom, Israeli media reported on Sunday, citing an exclusive report by the United Arab Emirate news website Al-Khaleej.

The report has it that a number of the said spy systems, the most advanced ones that Israel has ever sold to any Arab state, have already been successfully deployed to Saudi Arabia and put into practice, with Saudi technicians having previously received professional training in how to operate them. Neither side to the alleged deal has confirmed the information.

These are not the first reports surrounding alleged military cooperation between the two states. In September, Al-Khaleej reported that Saudi Arabia had purchased Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense systems to fend off Houthi missile attacks.

Israel and Saudi Arabia, meanwhile, do not engage in any formal diplomatic relationship; however, it is believed that there has been a slight rapprochement between the two due to the shared perceived threat of Iran’s expanded influence in the region.

One of the indications of this is that last November, in wake of IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot’s participation in the Washington military conference alongside his Saudi counterpart, he offered to share Israeli intelligence about Iran with Riyadh. He told the Saudi newspaper Elaph at the time that Saudi Arabia's approach to Iran was “identical” to mounting Israeli concerns.

Al-Qaeda-Linked Militants Launch More Attacks In Aleppo And Lattakia

The al-Qaeda-affiliated groups of Jamat Ansar al-Islam, Horas al-Din, Jabhat Ansar al-Islam and Ansar al-Tawhid formed the Wa Harid al-Muminin operations room earlier this month. Since then, the operations room has been working to sabotage the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement on the governorate of Idlib.

Under the agreement, a 15-20 demilitarized zone will be established around Idlib. The zone includes Aleppo’s suburbs and the northern Lattakia countryside. However, the radical militants are yet to withdraw from their positions there.

Russia and Turkey had extended the timeline of the deconfliction agreement in order to explore new ways to implement it before the end of this year. However, it appears that the radical militants are determined to sabotage the agreement, which may eventually force the SAA to launch a military operation in Idlib.

MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russian government officials expressed no dissatisfaction over Washington’s decision to withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty during US National Security Adviser John Bolton’s visit to Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.

"I would say that no offense at all was expressed on our part," Lavrov said in an interview with the "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" TV show aired by the Rossiya 1 TV channel on Sunday. "President Vladimir Putin had said very clearly that we understand that this is their decision, and there is no way we can influence it."

"We have voiced our reasons and hope that they kept them in mind when making their decision," he added.

Bolton confirmed Washington’s decision to quit the INF Treaty during his visit to Moscow earlier this week. According to the US official, a number of countries, such as China, Iran and North Korea, who are not covered by the treaty and "are free to do whatever they want," have substantial ballistic capabilities. "In the case of China, somewhere between one third - one half of all of their ballistic missile capability violate the INF if they were a party to it," he said. "So there is a new strategic reality," he added.

US’ decision to withdraw from INF Treaty makes Europe nervous

European countries are seriously worried over the United States’ decision to withdraw from the INF Treaty, minister said.

"We see the reaction. This decision has made the Europeans nervous," he said, adding that his German counterpart, Heiko Maas, had told him about that in a telephone conversation.

The Russian top diplomat recalled that the entire North Atlantic alliance had been involved in the preparation of the INF Treaty. "Now, many in NATO say that NATO’s members are to be consulted with while taking a decision about the INF Treaty’s future. I don’t know how the North Atlantic alliance is going to tackle this issue but at least [US National Security Adviser] John Bolton was quite straight when saying that the United States is primarily focused on the Asian direction where it wants to compensate for the ‘unfair’ lack of intermediate-and short-range weapons," Lavrov said. "There are questions, especially to the Americans who change their position too frequently."

Israeli Jets Pound Suspected Bombers at Gaza Border – IDF

The Israeli military said Sunday it had launched an airstrike on a group of Palestinians suspected of trying to plant a bomb on the Gazan border with Israel.

"Three Palestinians approached the security fence in the southern Gaza Strip. They attempted to damage it, while apparently trying to plant an explosive device nearby," the Israel Defense Force said.

An Israeli aerial vehicle "opened fire in their direction," the statement read. It did not specify if there were any casualties, but local media reported all three alleged bombers were killed in the strike.

The IDF said on Saturday that they targeted dozens of facilities in the Gaza Strip after more than 30 rockets had been fired from the area toward Israel. The IDF claimed Syria and Iran had instructed the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement to carry out the attacks.

Meanwhile, the Alray Palestinian media agency reported earlier in the day that the Palestinian movement had expressed its consent to a comprehensive ceasefire with Israel after the talks with Egyptian officials.

During the previous raids, the Israeli Air Force attacked 87 facilities of the Hamas movement, which the IDF considers responsible for all aggressive actions from the Hamas-controlled territory of the Gaza Strip.

Since late March, when the so-called Palestinian Great March of Return began, tensions have been mounting between the Israelis and the Palestinians near the Gaza border. The violence reached its peak in May amid the opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem timed to the anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel. Then, dozens of Palestinians were killed and over 2,700 others were wounded by the Israeli forces in the course of two days.

US Coordinating With NATO Allies on Exit From INF Treaty

The United States is coordinating with European allies on its exit from a nuclear arms treaty with Russia, according to Defense Secretary James Mattis.

Mattis told reporters in Prague on Oct. 28 that the United States is consulting with NATO defense ministers as it negotiates an off-ramp from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty with Russia.

The treaty, signed by President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1987, prohibits the possession and testing of short- and mid-range ground-launched ballistic missiles. President Donald Trump announced on Oct. 20 that the United States is withdrawing from the treaty. Washington hasn’t yet served a formal notice.

“We are in consultations with our European counterparts,” Mattis said. “I was speaking about it the day before with the German defense minister, and so, as I said, the consultations continue.”

As part of a brief visit to Prague, Mattis was expected to meet with the Czech defense minister, as well as Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis.

Mattis expected the conversations about the INF to culminate in December, when NATO defense ministers meet in Brussels.

The United States has for years accused Russia of violating the treaty with the deployment of a banned missile system. Moscow, for years, has ignored the accusations, before admitting that the missile system exists and demanding that Washington prove that the system violates the treaty.

Russia has also accused the United States of violating the treaty; Washington has addressed each accusation promptly with an explanation of how the weapons in question were compliant.

National security adviser John Bolton said in Moscow on Oct. 23 that, given Russia’s violations, the only nation now bound by the INF is the United States. Meanwhile, China, Iran, and North Korea have made significant strides to develop and produce missiles banned by the treaty.
