I read a post on another site about something that actually happened, there's no question it was real. A woman unknowingly had her baby intentionally switched in the maternity ward. She unknowingly was given someone else's baby to take home and unknowingly raised it as her own. As far as she knew, this was her child that she lived through all of the events with that would pertain to this situation.

When both of these now-grown children were in their fifties and she was in her seventies, the history came out. She was distraught. She didn't understand how she hadn't known on some level that it wasn't her child. And she had not raised and known her own child. A lifetime of reality shattered.

DS needs to control the events as much as possible, what if someone survived and blabbed? So it's made-up people and paid crisis actors and sayanim. People who pose problems after the fact are dealt with.
