Love you guys (nohomo) but this board is where research goes to die. Right down the memory whole and buried.
Hear me out please.
Unlike other boards (voat, reddit, chans) where topical threads are created we have been creating threads in sequence by number for over a year. This is #4646. One bread gets filled. Another gets baked.
The only connection to previous threads is notables. Previous notables disappear as new threads gets baked.
Whatever research or analysis that was done fades away quickly.
Think about all the topics we drilled into over the last year. Obama's background, Loop Capitol, Merkel's bloodline, the Republican train wreck, and on and on.
How easy is it to find all those nuggets of information if you need to reference or look back? Not easy at all.
I'm not shitting on what we are doing here, but I feel like we are wasting a ton of time and energy for the long term.
I don't have an answer or solution. Maybe we all can think of a good way to archive research by topic that works in harmony with what we do in the sequential threads. It needs to be resilient and possibly decentralized.
Some type of wiki would be great. That being said we shouldn't rely on one person to create and or manage it as it could disappear. Remember the spreadsheets? Do those exist anymore?
Just a few thoughts.
