I'm still trying to work out the energy angle here.
Was that the hook they used to engage PapaD (and Carter Page) in conversations?
Were they hoping to blackmail him later (assuming HRC won) for his Russian dealings?

Part of me thinks this has been an act all along.
The indictment and plea were a distraction while the rest of the story played out.
Non-citizens who are not on US soil do not have Constitutional rights.
Unfortunately that only works so long as they are kept outside the border.
