Judaism today is nothing like the proper Judaism back before the Babylonian captivity. They lost their Temple, their GOD and the law. They created the oral law (Halakah). The Christian Halakah today is the prosperity gospel, Joel Osteen, Kenneth Copeland… no deny self, daily cross (Luke 9:23).
So Christs beef with the Pharisees was due to their perverting of the law. stealing lands from widows, stealing money and general corruption.
I would have to agree. Because after the 70 yr captivity and When Cyrus gave them the decree to return to Jerusalem, many were wealthy having lived in the Tigris/Euphrates delta, they had homes and wealth and didn't want to return to Jerusalem and nothing, to start over. only about 50,000 returned after the Captivity. They generally, against GOD's commands not to intermarry, they did anyway. King David, Solomon, and solomon allowed his wives, 700 wives/300 concubines to worship Baal and the Grove
Israel in ancient times was a poverty stricken nation. Which is why every 50 years(Jubilee), everyone got ( were supposed to) their land back and their possessions. To prevent Greed. GOD's law. But the Jews said no as several owned much land. I can't complain though, when I was young, I was greedy too. looking back now being in my fifties, I regret all of my sins.
