So beautiful! There were shows that predate television by hundreds of years that were the entertainment of the day, examining moral, social, and spiritual issues, the morality plays in Medieval Europe, the No plays of Japan, as well as performances by African people, with elaborate costumes and masks full of nuanced symbolism. Those African masks had all kinds of messages embedded in them, identifying the personalities and behaviors the performers were representing, that the audience was totally familiar with, just like you know what caricatures of your own culture represent.
Today's entertainment is mindless drivel, designed to distract and corrupt, to cast a pall over life and the living.
Dancing heals.
