if you actually knew some history or could pick up a dictionary you would understand that the word "subject" had a specific legal meaning at the time, that derives from a person being subject to a king, which when applied to a republic means being a member of that republic.
an illegal immigrant is the opposite of a "subject" because they are the "subject" of some other country, they are invading our country, and from the first moment of their presence they are violating and subverting our laws.
