On Monday, October 29, a Lion Air Boeing 737 Max 8 crashed into the waters of the Java Sea, minutes after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. All 189 people on board died.
Because of the disaster, shares of Boeing, one of the 30 that make up the Dow Jones Industrial, fell seven percent on the New York Stock Exchange.
If the aircraft had been a Boeing 737-700 or 737-800, the tragedy would not have affected the stock price of the company, or affected very little, since they are models that have been flying for a long time and have been more than tested and approved.
It turns out that the Max 8 is a recent project, having the first regular passenger flight occurred in May 2017. In these cases, there is always the suspicion that there may have been some misconception.
This has already happened with a number of aircraft, most notably De Havilland's Comet 2 in 1953, with two fatal disasters, one of which lost its wings in mid-flight, and Electra 1 by Lockheed, also with two accidents caused by structural locks in 1959 and 1960, which caused the recovery of all turboprops of the series in operation in the world until the fault was discovered and solved.
So nothing more natural than Boeing's stock crash, which contaminated the New York Stock Exchange, causing the Dow Jones to lose more than 200 points. As has been happening for several weeks, NYSE losses influenced the Ibovespa, which fell 2.24%.
Just to remember, that was the day before yesterday.
With or without the influence of the exterior, the important thing is to know how to take advantage of the opportunities that the market offers, and there are many! See here the tips of Pedro Cerize, an investor who has hit the last cycle of overvaluation of the Exchange, to boost their earnings.
With regard to the Brazilian Stock Exchange, this symmetry may be with the days counted. In a few weeks, I believe that market expectations regarding the preparations and the first few months of the Bolsonaro government should prevail over external influence. And they could not be more favorable to the Exchange.
Among the sources that send me market news every day are Thiago Teixeira, from MRJ - Marejo Investimentos. Yesterday he called me attention to the interview of Guilherme Aché, from the manager Squadra, to the newspaper O Globo.
Aché worked alongside Paulo Guedes for 17 years at Banco Pactual. And reveals interesting things about your friend and ex-partner.
Guilherme Aché says that there are still many people worried about the Bolsonaro government. This is "a fantastic sign" , concludes the interviewee of O Globo .
