I came across this story from 2011, about Jimmy Carter building houses in Haiti.
( i did not realize he had gone there as well, to build houses( besides sean Penn and others)
He has on a lovely red scarf.
Portrait of a public servant: Ex-president Jimmy Carter dresses in denims and neckerchief to build homes in Haiti at the grand old age of 87
He may have retired from office 30 years ago, but former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has proved he still wants to make a difference to the world - and is willing to get his hands dirty doing it.
The 87-year-old put volunteers half his age to shame by chipping in, alongside wife Rosalynn, on a construction project in Haiti.
With his red neckerchief, cowboy jeans and denim shirt, he looked every bit the all-American hero, albeit a tired one, as he cut up wood, transported around supplies and carried out basic DIY as part of the six-day mission.

The couple were in Haiti to help 500 other humanitarians construct one-room homes for poor families who are still displaced from the 2010 earthquake.
Carter told reporters that he had noticed little housing reconstruction for struggling Haitians as he drove around the country.
In particular, the area between the capital Port-au-Prince and Leogane, 18 miles to the west, was still largely flattened because of its proximity to the epicentre.
