British Anon here. This is true. It's not a conspiracy. In the UK news the Middle East is the area from the Mediterranean to Iran. Asia is the Indian subcontinent and areas like Afghanistan. Thailand, China or Japan are referred to as South East Asia. Historically, SEA was called the Orient but they stopped that for being a bit racist.
