The long good-bye: Theresa May’s Brexit transition plan could last for years

UK Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit plan could leave Britain in a “long running” multiyear transition period, the London Times reported on Wednesday (24 October) citing leaked documents seen by the newspaper.

According to the leaked documents, the plan “could in theory, lead to a long running IP (implementation period)” and the arrangement could last for many years on a “rolling” basis with an “annual decision point” where any transition extension is reviewed, the Times reported.

Facebook Censorship Exposes Campaign Against Free Speech

Veterans’ rights attorney Benjamin Krause continues his work exposing fraud within the VA, yet Facebook recently banned his article about the VA’s Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection, which he said is “more like the ‘Office of Whistleblower Retaliation’.” He has an idea of Facebook’s real agenda.

When social media giant Facebook rejected an article written by journalist and veterans’ rights attorney Benjamin Krause that was about the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and was critical of President Donald Trump, Krause knew there was a bigger story there than the conventional wisdom of tech companies censoring conservative viewpoints.

American Free Press sat down with Krause—who spends much of his time helping to expose scandals, fraud, waste, and abuse in the VA through his DisabledVeterans.org website—to discuss what it means to all of us.

Intellipedia Entries

Intellipedia is an online system for collaborative data sharing used by the United States Intelligence Community (IC). It was established as a pilot project in late 2005 and formally announced in April 2006 and consists of three wikis running on JWICS, SIPRNet, and Intelink-U. The levels of classification allowed for information on the three wikis are Top Secret, Secret, and Sensitive But Unclassified/FOUO information, respectively. They are used by individuals with appropriate clearances from the 16 agencies of the IC and other national-security related organizations, including Combatant Commands and other federal departments. The wikis are not open to the public.

Intellipedia is a project of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) Intelligence Community Enterprise Services (ICES) office headquartered in Fort Meade, Maryland. It includes information on the regions, people, and issues of interest to the communities using its host networks. Intellipedia uses MediaWiki, the same software used by the Wikipedia free-content encyclopedia project. ODNI officials say that the project will change the culture of the U.S. intelligence community, widely blamed for failing to “connect the dots” before the September 11 attacks.

The Secret version connected to SIPRNet predominantly serves Department of Defense and the Department of State personnel, many of whom do not use the Top Secret JWICS network on a day-to-day basis. Users on unclassified networks can access Intellipedia from remote terminals outside their workspaces via a VPN, in addition to their normal workstations. Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) users share information on the unclassified network.

International Christian Concern reported on the statements of witnesses and heartbroken families a month after the two Christians, Fredrick Ngui Ngonde and Joshua Ooko Obila, were shot dead by Somalia-based terror group al-Shabaab for refusing to recite the Islamic creed.

“The armed Somali fighters ordered all of us to [get off of] the bus and produce our identity cards. They singled out three passengers and ordered them to remain down the bus as we boarded. They asked them if they were Muslims and if they knew the Shahada and the seven verses of Suratul Fatiha. One of them recited part of the Shahada and was allowed to [return] to the bus,” a witness who wasn’t named told the watchdog group.

“The other two kafir men refused to obey the jihad fighters and remained adamant that Christ is their savior and they cannot deny the Christian faith. They were shot dead.”

Trump Is Right. Ending Birthright Citizenship Is Constitutional.

President Donald Trump’s announcement Tuesday that he is preparing an executive order to end birthright citizenship has the left and even some conservatives in an uproar.

But the president is correct when he says that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution does not require universal birthright citizenship.

An executive order by Trump ending birthright citizenship would face a certain court challenge that would wind up in the Supreme Court. But based on my research of this issue over several years, I believe the president’s view is consistent with the view of the framers of the amendment.

Those who claim the 14th Amendment mandates that anyone born in the U.S. is automatically an American citizen are misinterpreting the amendment in a manner inconsistent with the intent of the amendment’s framers.

Universal birthright citizenship attracts illegal immigration. By granting immediate citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil, regardless of the legal status of the parents, we reward and encourage illegal and exploitative immigration.

Most countries around the world do not provide birthright citizenship. We do so based not upon the requirements of federal law or the Constitution, but based upon an erroneous executive interpretation. That should be changed.

Bringing Down Jeffrey Epstein (2018 Documentary)

Whether we are talking of the Iran-Contra scandal in the 1980’s, which found American military officials selling weapons to terrorists; the lies about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction; the 2008 financial theft by the global banking elite; torture carried out by American soldiers at the orders of their superiors; corruption and violence from police on the local, state, and federal level; or the long history of indiscriminate bombing campaigns resulting in the deaths of millions of people in the middle east – it is clear that there is one set of rules for the people – the ruled – and one set of rules for those in government, media, banking, corporate entities, and their extremely wealthy financiers, aka the ruling class.

A perfect example of this corruption can be found in the disturbing tale of Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and billionaire who thus far has escaped any major consequences for performing sexual acts on teenage girls. Despite facing criminal charges a decade ago, Epstein was able to dodge any major repercussions and prison time. Now, with a federal lawsuit looming on the horizon, the truth about Epstein may finally see the light of day. To date, this lawsuit, and the chance to publicize the truth, offers the best chance at Bringing Down Jeffrey Epstein.

Starting in the 1970’s, Epstein worked as an options trader and financial adviser for investment banker Bear Stearns. Epstein has been a prominent member of the ruling class for decades, sometimes advising high profile people on tax strategies. He has rubbed elbows with and hosted parties with Hollywood Celebrities including Alec Baldwin, Elizabeth Hurley, Dustin Hoffman, and Kevin Spacey, musicians like Courtney Love, politicians like Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, and Henry Kissinger, and royalty such as Britain’s Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Epstein is a member of the ruling class who are so arrogant they feel safe committing crimes because they know full well they can buy off judges, lawyers, and even their opponents. If that doesn’t work, lawsuits can be filed to scare individuals away from pursuing justice. And if that doesn’t work, well threats of physical harm can be used.

Despite Epstein’s best efforts, the public learned about his secret affinity for young girls in the mid-2000’s. In 2005, the Palm Beach County Police were contacted by the mother of a 14-year old girl who said she was paid $300 to strip down to her underwear and massage Jeffrey Epstein at his Palm Beach residence. This lead to an 11-month investigation which eventually involved the FBI. Law enforcement gathered evidence of up to 40 young girls participating in Epstein’s massage scheme and eventually conducted a raid on his Palm Beach home.

According to court documents, Epstein’s one time girlfriend and partner in crime, Ghislaine Maxwell helped the billionaire connect to local teenage girls via a teenager named Haley Robson. Robson reportedly recruited friends and other teenagers from the local schools to participate in the massages at Epstein’s house. Epstein apparently targeted girls from lower income neighborhoods. Nada Marcinkova and Sarah Kellen are two other women who have also been accused of helping feed Epstein’s pedophilic urges. One of the victims told police that she had been told Epstein purchased Marcinkova from her parents in Eastern Europe when she was 15.

Yet another new study finds global Medieval Warm Period: S. America and N. Hemisphere medieval warming ‘occurred largely synchronous, probably reaching comparable intensities’

New study, "The Medieval Climate Anomaly in South America," published in the journal Quaternary International, October 31, 2018: "MCA (Medieval Climate Anomaly) warming in South America and the NH appears to have occurred largely synchronous, probably reaching comparable intensities."

The Medieval Climate Anomaly (MCA) is a climatic perturbation with a core period of 1000-1200 AD that is well-recognized in the Northern Hemisphere (NH). Its existence in the Southern Hemisphere (SH) and the level of synchronicity with the NH is still a matter of debate. Here we present a palaeotemperature synthesis for South America encompassing the past 1500 years based on multiproxy data from 76 published land and marine sites. The data sets have been thoroughly graphically correlated and the MCA trends palaeoclimatologically mapped. The vast majority of all South American land sites suggest a warm MCA. Andean vegetation zones moved upslope, glaciers retreated, biological productivity in high altitude lakes increased, the duration of cold season ice cover on Andean lakes shortened, and trees produced thicker annual rings. Similar MCA warming occurred in coastal seas, except in the year-round upwelling zones of Peru, northern Chile and Cabo Frio (Brazil) where upwelling processes intensified during the MCA due to changes in winds and ocean currents. MCA warming in South America and the NH appears to have occurred largely synchronous, probably reaching comparable intensities. Future studies will have to address major MCA data gaps that still exist outside the Andes in the central and eastern parts of the continent. The most likely key drivers for the medieval climate change are multi-centennial Pacific and Atlantic ocean cycles, probably linked to solar forcing.

Small And Medium Publishers Protest EU Link Tax, Which Will Harm Them, While Helping Only Large Publishers

As the EU continues to march towards wrecking the internet with a variety of dangerous proposals in the EU Copyright Directive, many are desperately trying to explain to policymakers there just how much damage they are going to do and asking them to take simple steps to prevent the worst possible outcomes. While most of the attention has been on the awful Article 13 upload filters, the Article 11 link/snippet tax is almost as bad.

Of course, to hear EU supporters of Article 11 explain things, such a brand new "publisher's right" is necessary to help save media organizations who have been undermined by the basic business model of the internet. This is already insanity (and, as we've pointed out, when both Germany and Spain passed similar laws, it harmed media sites, and did nothing to increase their revenue), but if that were the case, you'd expect most media organizations to be totally on board with the plan. That is not the case. A few of the very largest media sites are totally on board (with German publisher Axel Springer being the leading voice in support). But midsize and small publications recognize just how damaging this will be and they've now sent a letter to policymakers, who are working to finalize the Directive, calling out how the existing language puts them (the very entities policymakers claim this law will support) at great risk:

Of particular concern is the idea that Article 11 might require licenses in order to index news content. That means even if a smaller site does not wish to be compensated by a news aggregator – it has to set up a licensing scheme that requires payment. In effect, this outlaws Creative Commons and numerous business models and distribution strategies for the internet.

The key issue here is that if news aggregators – who send sites plenty of traffic – are required to set up licensing schemes and pay everyone they link to, it is most likely that they will only wish to negotiate with a few larger players, and simply avoid linking to smaller sites, if they continue linking at all. This will disproportionately benefit those large sites. And this would be true even if (as many predict) brand new collection society middlemen show up to collect and distribute such money.

We've already seen this in action. In the US, it's been widely reported how collection society ASCAP simply finds it impossible to track the number of plays of smaller, independent artists, and thus distributes their share to the most popular artists. It is literally taking from the smallest, independent artists, and giving their royalties to the wealthier and more successful ones. The same is likely true of any scheme for reimbursing news sites as well.

Hispanic Unemployment Breaks Another Record as Blockbuster Job Growth Marks October

The economy added 250,000 jobs in October, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Nov. 2, with Hispanic unemployment dropping to 4.4 percent—a new record for data reaching back to 1973.

The overall unemployment level remained at 3.7 percent, the lowest since 1969, while Black and Asian unemployment inched down to 6.2 percent and 3.2 percent respectively.

The Fed is not expected to raise rates at its policy meeting next week, but economists believe October’s strong labor market data could see the U.S. central bank signal an increase in December. The Fed raised borrowing costs in September for the third time this year.

Trump has criticized the Fed for raising the rates too fast. Aggressive rate hikes have historically preceded economic depressions. Since major banks that hold decision power in the Fed have mostly escaped the most devastating consequences of the depressions, some experts believe the Fed’s more drastic interventions are the underlying cause of the boom and bust cycles, allowing the big players to act with a certain foreknowledge of economic developments.

Feds 'Wanted To Get Rid Of' Whitey Bulger, Ex-Con Claims

Apparently, we're not the only ones who believe the circumstance surrounding Whitey Bulger's jailhouse slaying are suspect in the extreme. First, that federal authorities would abruptly move an 89-year-old inmate in ill health to a new maximum security prison seemingly on a whim seemed odd. But the fact that Bulger was placed in general population instead of protective custody was either an act of staggering incompetence, or, more likely, an intentional 'oversight'. And now, an ex-con-turned-journalist told the New York Post in an interview that he also believes the killing was a set-up probably planned by federal authorities to get rid of a problem witness.

As Richard Stratton told the Post, the guards at Hazelton prison almost certainly looked the other way as a trio of inmates purportedly led by New England mafia enforcer Freddy Geas fatally beat Bulger to death in a secluded corner of the prison. His attackers then tried to gouge out his eyes and cut out his tongue - an old-school marking that the victim was a 'rat'. High ranking federal officials probably sent Bulger there "to get rid of him," Stratton said.

Stratton said the notion that Bulger wasn't in protective custody is baffling considering that two inmates had recently been killed at the prison.

Stratton, who helped produce an HBO documentary about prison murders, pointed out that Bulger had been transferred from an Arizona facility in 2014 after having an "improper relationship" with a prison psychologist.

Though it's worth noting that Stratton might be conflicted in his assessment: Bulger once helped him quash a life-threatening beef when he was running drugs in Massachusetts back in the day.

Stratton, a former drug smuggler who served eight years in federal prison, said he once sought help from Bulger when the Mafia tried to muscle in on a scam in which he was sneaking hashish from Lebanon through Boston’s Logan Airport.

After refusing to cough up $1 million and half of whatever drugs he brought into the US, "I heard they put out a contract on me," said Stratton, who also recounted the episode in his 2016 memoir, "Smuggler’s Blues: A True Story of the Hippie Mafia."

Still, Stratton's not the only one who suspects that federal authorities at least tacitly condoned Bulger's killing. The Daily Mail suggested that Bulger may have been on the verge of cooperating with the staff of a Massachusetts Congressman hoping to expose abuses from inside the FBI.
