Cabinet begins visit to Aleppo to inspect state of services, economy, and development sectors

The state of the industrial sector and restoring Aleppo’s luster as an economic city is one of the top priorities of the visit, reflecting the dedication to having Aleppo reclaim its important economic standing locally and internationally.

During the visit, the Ministers will inspect the state of services and development sectors, as well as progress in the projects that were launched, the activities in markets, production, the implementation of the new zoning plan for Aleppo city, and means to realize economic development across the province.

US Military Deploys Additional Troops, Equipment In Attempt To Ease Tensions Between Its Proxies And Turkish Forces

According to Head of the SDF Press Center Mustefa Bali, the US-led coalition is going to kick off patrols along the Turkish border in the areas controlled by the SDF. Local sources say that these patrols, which are obviously aimed at preventing further Turkish strikes on SDF targets, will be focused in the area of Ayn al-Arab (also known as Kobani) where clashes between the SDF and the TAF have recently erupted. The only problem with the statement of Derwish is that Turkey has officially declared that Manbij is currently controlled by the terrorists and it is going to eliminate them. Kurdish armed groups, mostly the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), are the core of the SDF and publicly dominate in its military and political command struture. Members of Kurdish aremd groups are also a major part of the “SDF members”.

According to Turkish experts, the SDF brand itself was created in order to hide US support to the YPG and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Syria. The PKK is a separatist armed group seeking to establish an independent state within Turkish territory. It has deep links to the YPG and is a designated terrorist group in multiple states, including Turkey and the US.

Ex Director’s ‘Nixonian Obsession With Leaks’ Drove Obama CIA to Spy on Congress

The Central Intelligence Agency surveilled and analyzed the emails of Congressional staffers during the Obama administration, according to recently declassified Congressional notifications detailing the snooping.

The CIA was collecting information specifically related to CIA whistleblowers and dumping it into a report that was sent to Congress. This week, that report was declassified.

During former US President Barack Obama's second term in office, the foreign intelligence gathering agency was "reading Congressional staff's emails about intelligence community whistleblowers," Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said in a Friday statement, noting that it "raises serious policy concerns as well as potential constitutional separation-of-powers issues that must be discussed publicly."

"Nothing — nothing — should inhibit or interfere with Congress' constitutional job and protecting whistleblowers," the Republican said, The Washington Times reports.

But Langley had reasons to keep close tabs on potential whistleblowers: it didn't want leaks coming out that might embarrass the administration, says John Kiriakou, who spent 15 years at the CIA and now hosts Loud & Clear on Radio Sputnik.

Kiriakou noted that much of the material classified by the US government shouldn't be. "You can't classify something that's a crime," he explained. "And you can't classify something that's embarrassing. You can only classify something if it's sources and methods or operational details. So much of what's classified in our government is improperly classified. The leaks were embarrassing to the administration. And that's why [then-CIA Director John] Brennan began going after whistleblowers," Kiriakou told Sputnik News Friday.

The email surveillance program was an offshoot of Brennan's "Nixonian obsession with leaks," Kiriakou told Sputnik. Kiriakou spent time during his tenure at the agency in the Middle East and Greece, among other areas. In 2007, he spoke publicly about the agency's "enhanced interrogation" program, also known as torture, before being jailed for it during the Obama administration.
