Report: China Begins Global Effort To Suppress Speech, Teaches Other Nations To Censor

China has faced international criticism over reports that its officials are restricting speech and access to dissenting opinions on the nation’s internet.

Now, reports indicate the country is attempting to export that practice around the world through a series of seminars and other efforts to share its methods of restricting online expression.

As Fast Company reported this week, evidence shows Chinese officials have hosted foreign delegates for training.

Through this program, the nation reportedly couches its description of the practice in terms related to the curtailment of fake news.

The new claims stem from a report published by Freedom House, which compiled data regarding the state of online freedom around the world in 2018.

Taken as a whole, Freedom House finds China’s trend of spreading its restrictions on online speech carries a major potential risk.

“This year, Beijing took steps to propagate its model abroad by conducting large-scale trainings of foreign officials, providing technology to authoritarian governments, and demanding that international companies abide by its content regulations even when operating outside of China,” the report’s authors determined. “These trends present an existential threat to the future of the open internet and prospects for greater democracy around the globe.”

As Western scholars were blithering about Putin’s love for, and rehabilitation of Stalin” in the 2000s, Putin-era state television produced a series of films commemorating Russian figures destroyed during the Stalin era. Some of the state or state-tied television channels’ productions on the Soviet regime’s atrocities, include Yesenin (a film about the Russian poet Sergei Yesenin who committed suicide under mysterious circumstances and pressure from the communist regime), Moskovskaya saga (the story of a Moscow family’s destruction under Stalinism), Boris Pasternak’s Nobel Prize-winning novel Doctor Zhivago, the great Soviet dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s The First Circle, and Mikhail Bulgakov’s anti-Stalinist satire Master and Margarita, among many others. Moreover, the Putin and Medvedev administrations have undertaken their own direct de-Stalinization campaign, while avoiding the extremes of historical revisionism and political whitewashing. And for some reason we often think that that is only about the impermissibility of revision of the results of the Great Patriotic War. Where are the Democrats on a woman’s recent admission that she made up all of her charges of rape against now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh?

The woman has admitted she never even met Kavanaugh — ever.

On Saturday, Trump challenged those on the Left to speak up — to make some comment, say something — after Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, referred to the Department of Justice and the FBI for criminal prosecution a woman for making “materially false statements” after she clearly and wrongly accused Justice Brett Kavanaugh of raping her.

“A vicious accuser of Justice Kavanaugh has just admitted that she was lying, her story was totally made up, or FAKE!” Trump tweeted on Saturday.

“Can you imagine if he didn’t become a Justice of the Supreme Court because of her disgusting False Statements. What about the others? Where are the Dems on this?”

Erdogan expects to hold negotiations with Putin and Trump during visit to Paris

ANTALYA, November 3. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expects to hold negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump in Paris on November 10-11, the Turkish leader said at a news conference in Ankara.

"An international meeting will be held on November 10-11 in Paris, which Trump will also attend. We will have a chance to meet face to face and discuss various issues. It will be possible to talk to Putin in the same format," he said.

The previous meeting between the Russian and Turkish presidents took place on October 27 in Istanbul on the sidelines of the Russia-Turkey-France-Germany summit devoted to the Syrian settlement.
