Any sauce re: the SUV being loaded with documents?
If so, this + the disguises would indicate patriots stole a bunch of documents and made a run for the only place in town that isn't comped. By charging the gate, they hoped to attract enough attention to themselves that they wouldn't just be disappeared or fall to puppets within the NSA. Getting shot probably wasn't part of the plan but they took their chances. Pray they recover.
