I always thought it was a connection to self or higher. Then it faded. I had only noticed when it disappeared in the last decade or so.

Pineal Gland. I can actually place where the shivers begin when they occur. I can even cause them to some degree if I concentrate enough. They begin just below of where the gland is indicated in pictures.

I've been watching Sense8.

I have a different theory regarding the Wachowskis and sex changes based on something the trans character states. If time, matter, etc. is fluid, and they've been playing around with DMT, they may have decided that it's all fluid and they wanted to try being female.
