Or are we supposed to associate the appearance of a scar on the head with the beast described in Rev. 13:3, that had a mortal wound which was healed?

And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. 2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear's, and its mouth was like a lion's mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”

The dragon can be Satan.

The beast with 7 horns and 10 heads can be symbolic of political rulers, for example of several countries. A horn can represent power and a head can represent a ruler.

I have always wondered if there's some association between "Obama" and the "abomination of desolation" that sits in the temple of God, pretending to be God, and being worshipped as a false idol polluting the temple of God.

The people of God are the temple of God. I'm not referring to a physical building.

Well it's just something to think about. I don't have a firm conviction concerning this interpretation but it's something I keep in the back of my mind, looking for evidence that would fit, one way or the other, to support or refute.
