The Kings of Mesopotamia had counterparts in regions that didn’t even have a developed way of record keeping.
Kings or royalty in general are not what they seem. Their positions are divine yes, but in a small sense.
Most all public figures in high position of power are figureheads and representations of what the game dictates.
