More preparations for the left losing the vote

I sat far away from the event or the screen tonight at the beto rally. I could only hear the crowd roar as beto spoke. I sat near the road, and a man sat next to me and we talked about how wonderful it was to see all ages, from really young to really old, every race and every income at these rallies. I said the #1 issue is health. He then proceeded to show me a picture of him in various hospital beds and machines and tell me about his diagnosis of cancer, and how that lead to needing open heart surgery. He lamented that this last election had changed so much for him, that he learned life long friends were really racist, and people he thought were kind were really cruel, and on he went telling me of his transformation in health, in friendship and in life.

He also said something profound. He said whether Mr O'Rourke wins the election or not, Texas has won. I asked him why.

He said beto had really shown America who Texas is. The real Texas, our heart, our people. Beto has stayed true to his word and campaigned with respect and dignity. He showed that you can raise big money without negative ads, PACs or demeaning people. He never slandered his opponent. He welcomed everyone, and they came. The whole world is suddenly watching Texas, and people from all over America came to Texas to help the race. When have you ever seen that? And It's been unbelievably good energy at every single event. I've been to numerous events. Even at events for other candidates, the energy is the same. The crowd is the same. It's very addictive to watch people trying to help people keep their health care, their vote, their lives… Way better than hearing hateful things, murder in the news daily, etc.

So, when you consider that Beto entered the race for senate virtually unknown, and now has people writing stories in Finland, Germany and all over the nation, that's amazing. That he kept his word, stayed positive.. That's a mark of character.

The Texas senate race has gone from 20 points behind to a dead heat just 3 days before the vote. And the nation has seen the heart of Texas in those daily live feeds. The real, genuine, multi cultured, open arms, loving, caring, uniquely independent minded, whataburger loving Texas. I've seen crowd after crowd that represents all ages, races and incomes. And they all have fabulous energy. That my friends is a win any day of the year. Now go vote!

'Trump has hijacked the election': House Republicans in panic mode

Worries deepen that Trump's charged immigration rhetoric will cost the GOP more seats.

House Speaker Paul Ryan got President Donald Trump on the phone Sunday for one final plea on behalf of anxious Republicans: Please, please talk up the booming economy in the final hours before Election Day.

But Trump, unsurprisingly, had another issue on his mind. He boasted to Ryan that his focus on immigration has fired up the base, according to a source familiar with the call.

Two days out from an expected Democratic takeover of the House, Republicans focused on the chamber are profoundly worried that Trump’s obsession with all things immigration will exacerbate their losses. Many of these same Republicans welcomed Trump’s initial talk about the migrant caravan and border security two weeks ago, hoping it would gin up the GOP base in some at-risk, Republican-held districts.

But they now fear Trump went overboard — and that it could cost them dearly in key suburban districts, from Illinois to Texas. Many of them have cringed at Trump’s threats to unilaterally end birthright citizenship, as well as his recent racially-tinged ad suggesting that immigrants are police killers. The president's drumbeat, they say, is drowning out news any incumbent president would be negligent not to dwell on: that the economy added a quarter-million jobs last quarter, and unemployment is below 4 percent.

“Trump has hijacked the election,” said one senior House Republican aide of Trump's focus on immigration. “This is not what we expected the final weeks of the election to focus on.”

CNN to Democrats: Stop Thinking About a Blue Wave. It’s Not Going to Happen.

"But you know the idea of a blue wave, stop thinking about that. I don't think it's going to happen," CNN's Jeff Zeleny said on Sunday.
