Sprightly Prince Philip, 97, enjoys a morning carriage drive at Windsor Castle while the Queen, 92, sets out on horseback โ€“ with a sprig of Remembrance poppies pinned to her ponyโ€™s bridle

Duke of Edinburgh, 97, was seen carriage driving around Windsor Castle

Prince Philip officially stepped down from public duties in autumn last year

The Queen's husband, a former polo player, is an experienced carriage driver

Post-retirement he spends much of his time at Windsor and Sandringham

The Duke of Edinburgh has been making the most of the great outdoors in his retirement, and this morning was no different as the 97-year-old took a turn around Windsor Castle in his carriage.

The Queen's husband, who stepped down from public duties last year, looked fighting fit as he took in the fresh air on the crisp autumnal morning.

Casually dressed in a green jacket and flat cap, the experienced carriage driver looked delighted to be taking the reigns as he steered his carriage through the Berkshire estate.

The Queen was also spotted riding around the castle grounds this morning, accompanied by her head groom Terry Pendry.

And in a poignant tribute to Remembrance Week, the 92-year-old had attached a spring of poppies to her pony's bridle
