A report from NYC anon, yours truly:

On this rainy afternoon at around 6pm, on my daily commute uptown towards East Harlem on the 6 train, a voice rang out through the grimy, dystopian scene. Unseen by me amidst the press of the crowd, the man was no beggar or busker. He urged us all to vote Republican – that's right, vote Republican to protect the country, our military, and to defend against the onslaught of illegal aliens who are taking people's jobs.

I was smiling from ear to ear, but some people actually confronted this man. 98 times out of 100, subway riders will simply avert their eyes and pretend to be somewhere else pretty much regardless of what's going on. But with this guy, multiple people tried to shout him down.

To whoever it was: Thank you for brightening my evening, and may the returns of tomorrow bring greater hope for the future. I'll be casting my vote in all of the grotesquely non-competitive races just as you suggested. Fortunately this will be my last election in NYC, as I am moving to a free(r) state with my family at the end of this year.

With any luck, the salt to be mined on Wednesday will be even greater than November 9, 2016 – and that was a sight to behold, let me tell you!

Yeah, I certainly hope the tide can be turned somewhat even here. But it's going to take a lot, and I've spent enough of my life here already.

Certainly looking forward to never having to deal with another NYPD firearm "premises permit" renewal…
