Maricopa County election officials: 72 polling places not ready for Election Day
FOX 10 has learned that a number of polling places in Maricopa County are not ready for Election Day business, as of 5:45 p.m. Monday.
According to officials, there is no guarantee they will be ready for Election Day, and they are hoping to work through the night to open on time.
In an earlier live interview on FOX 10 Xtra News at 7, Maricopa County Recorder Adrian Fontes talked about preparing for the elections, as the countdown to Election Day continues.
"It's just like preparing for a playoff game. I think a lot of people can relate to that," said Fontes. "You're making sure you've got everything in place, and folks are doing things they need to do to prepare, and it's still pretty busy around here."
Fontes was also asked about any extra measures that are in place to ensure smooth election operations, after the primary election was marred by difficulties.
"We got 125 troubleshooters out there, we've got our own people – our inspectors are setting up their own equipment. That's been going on all day, and it's been going pretty smoothly," said Fontes.
