An anon suggested I look at the old Aesop fable, the Grasshopper and the Ant. It used to be basically about being prepared. No longer.

In a 2015 rendition, the moral is merely, don’t put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

The fabulously illustrated children’s book is a story of a lazy, rock-star grasshopper who does nothing all year to prepare for winter. The ants are their usual busy selves. Winter comes. G-h is cold and hungry. He goes knocking at their door. Do they lecture him on his democrat worthlessness? No, they invite him in and feed him. He repays by entertaining them. All kumbaya. Ants were always destined to be welfare for the lazy, smart-ass g-hs of the world.
