Just voted in NYC and upon coming up to the ballot scanner the dude says I have to split the ballots into 2 pieces. While I was trying to split them up in a way he wouldn't see my straight ticket Republican vote, the wrong side was facing him and he obviously saw my ticket and his eyes bulged up. He then directed me to the very last scanner in the back where no one else was being told to go, and on the screen it said something like "Public Count 304 - Protected Count 2,500". I dropped my ballot in and watched him send a few other people to the other scanner machines, but not the one he told me to use.
