Short comment on the sun halo effect presented in Q's post:

 

I have seen that many times, usually first the sky is full of lines cris-crossing, then they dissolve into hazy clouds,and then the sun comes out and something in the clouds act reflective of the suns rays.

 

Droplets of water works like a prism to create a rainbow where you look when the sun is at your back, but here something reflects directly to create a halo. Don't know what it is but very small metallic particles would most possibly cause such an effect.

 

Just sayin'…
