In L.A. County, the high number of provisional votes is noteworthy again. We had something like 15% in our precinct. Other poll workers we met during the day were reporting similar results. Same cause as the presidential race: vote by mail ballots not surrendered when voting at the polls. Somewhere around half of them did not get them at all. Many were surprised when we told them they were registered to vote by mail. A few let slip in one way or another how they planned to vote, and those were red. So we'll see.
Yes, I'm really quite concerned about how many reported the same. Forcing people into the provisional system like that opens the door for manipulations. We really don't know where these ballots go.
With so many provisional votes in CA, no one there should accept early results.
Just to clarify: that 26 flipped under Dem, is that Rep seats that went Dem?
We just turned ours in to the local collection site at 9:15pm. From there, everything had to go about 25 miles away for counting. It's now 10:55pm. So maybe they're getting some precincts counted by now. HOWEVER, we turned in a LOT of vote by mail ballots turned in at the precinct and a LOT of provisional ballots. Most of these (all?) will likely not be counted tonight.
