>Last year, the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced a joint investigation into decisions made and not made by the Department of Justice in 2016. As part of the joint investigation, Chairmen Goodlatte and Gowdy have repeatedly requested that the Justice Department hand over the 1.2 million documents relating to the investigation into former Secretary Clintonโ€™s use of a private email server to send and receive classified information. To date, the Committees have received only a few thousand of the 1.2 million documents provided to the Inspector General.

Georgia's Stacey Abrams refuses to concede, says victory 'within reach'

Democrat Stacey Abrams said early Wednesday morning that sheโ€™s not conceding the Georgia governor's race despite Republican candidate Brian Kempโ€™s lead.

โ€œIโ€™m here to tell you tonight that votes remain to be counted,โ€ Abrams told her supporters in Atlanta.

Kemp is leading Abrams by more than two percentage points โ€“ 50.6 percent to 48.5 percent โ€“ with 97 percent of precincts reporting.

Her campaign was backed by big-name celebrities and high-profile political figures. Oprah Winfrey and former President Barack Obama campaigned for the Democrat.

>The fact that Republicans did so well in the Senate is partly a geographical quirk: the party only had eight of its own seats at stake in the midterm elections,

<while Democrats had 25 (including left-wing independents).>

However, the Democrats may well have hung onto their seats

had they not chosen to attack Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

>As Tom Bevan of RealClearPolitics noted, almost all of the Democrat Senators in competitive races who voted against Kavanaugh lost on Tuesday, while the one who voted for Kavanaugh โ€” Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) โ€” won.
