It seems like someone attempted to have him Baker Acted before, but he was released the same day. Mental health facilities do not do a good job of vetting. They ask, can you take care of yourself, can you feed yourself, do your feel at harm to yourself or others? If you respond in the light they want, they let you go. Otherwise, you become a liability. A close friend just went through that with their SIL, who was dangerous. They let him out the same day.
