I do not characterize as assault either. However; he did intentially try to get her to let go by dropping his arm down quickly and it is extremely unprofessional. This will get out of hand even more if they allow this to slide by imho.
When/if he is allowed back it should be provisional. Maybe he has to stay seated and cannot hold the microphone.
