>That said, I believe there is a lot more to this. Ribs are moderately difficult to fracture without a serious trauma or underlying pathology that weakens the bone, i.e. osteoporosis, cancer. A fall causing this in an elderly woman would typically not yield a broken bone in the ribs but would rather be more likely in the hip or distal radius. This would make me very suspicious of a cancer–likely something similar to multiple myeloma–that is also concerning for the cervical lymphodenopathy we have seen in other pictures (the huge knot on her neck). It could also be a metastesis of her prior pancreatic cancer which would be much more ominous, and given her recent memory "lapses" and this fall could indicate brain involvement.
What about brain tumor? Doesn't have to be malignant yet but it will cause issues with balance and lead to falling.
