Viktor Orban: Let’s take the side of the people and protect them from illegal migration, terrorism and crime!

Without its nations, Europe would lose its spiritual and cultural identity, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said, addressing a European People’s Party (EPP) congress in Helsinki on Thursday.

“Europe will either be a Europe of nations or it will cease to exist,” Orban told the congress ahead of a vote on the lead candidate for the post of European Commission president.

The “accession of central European nations have made Europe more peaceful, stronger and richer”, he said. The continent’s strength has always been based on strong nations, he said.

Orban accused the liberals, socialists and greens of wanting a rootless Europe devoid of its spiritual and psychological identity. “Our vision is a Europe with 27 faces, one that is Christian and democratic simultaneously,” he said.

Orban called the EPP “a party of victors” which preferred keeping its feet on the ground rather than championing world-redeeming ideologies. “By now, however, the situation has changed,” he said.

Over the past few years, the EPP has given the leadership of Europe, so it has to take responsibility for “failure to keep Britain in the union and the migrants outside it.” While in 2011, sixteen member states were governed by EPP parties, now that number is down to six, he said. “No wonder our confidence has been shaken.”

“To return to the path to victory”, the EPP should restore its unity, find its roots again and proclaim the “renaissance of Christian democracy”, the prime minister said. “Absurdities like praising Fidel Castro or Karl Marx should be forgotten,” he added.

Orban warned that the EPP should not heed its adversaries and should not accept the standards of the left and the liberal media, he said. “If we try to live up to their expectations, we are doomed to fail,” he said.

The prime minister emphasised that the EPP should appreciate its successes. “Those who do not value their victors deserve failure,” he said. As the European elections are won in the member states, “the EPP as a victors’ party needs victorious prime ministers,” he said.

The key to success is to take the side of the people, Orban said. “Let’s protect them from illegal migration, terrorism, crime and economic hardship,” he said. “Let us once again put the old slogan on the banner: [a government]of the people, by the people, for the people”.

Syrian Army: We Have the Right to Fight U.S Occupation

Syria has the right to combat the US military presence and other international coalition nations on its territory in every possible way, said Brigadier General Hasan Ahmad Hasan.

Commenting on the creation of a new French military base near the Syrian city of Raqqa, Hasan recalled that France is part of the international coalition against ISIS.

“France is part of a coalition that has declared its intention to divide the country and the whole region. This is the main logic of its actions,” he said.

The Brigadier General also recalled that a State only has the right to be present militarily in another State at the request of the State or if it has the mandate from the United Nations Security Council.

“Therefore, the only [foreign] presence is the Russian military presence, the Iranian forces and the Lebanese national resistance forces [the Hezbollah movement], who have arrived in Syria and are on Syrian territory at the request of Syria. Other military presence, such as Turkish, American, British, French, German or Persian Gulf countries, any other forms of military presence and the deployment of armed forces are illegal,” Hasan explained.

“Given that the state does not control some geographic regions of the country, the state and its supporters have the right to combat this illegal presence, this occupation in every possible way,” he said.

The general stressed that the aim of the coalition is to maintain the status quo as long as possible, against its inability to achieve its main objective – the division of Syria.

In addition, Hasan stressed that instead of fighting ISIS, the US and its coalition allies support terrorists.

“It is precisely this coalition that heads ISIS and controls its activities, it is they who that distributes tasks among various groups. The only proven fact to the whole world is that the US and its allies do not fight terrorism, they only pretend to fight,” he said.

As evidence of this, the general recalled reports that US planes and helicopters evacuated ISIS leaders from combat zones.

“When the Syrian Army advanced in any region, US aviation was assaulting it directly. In addition to American aviation, there were Israeli or aviation from other countries, which proves that the coalition fights against everything except terrorism,” he revealed.

Hasan underlines that the Syrian authorities intend to recover all territories that are under Turkish occupation, North American and by other forces.

“Those who think that Syria will leave any piece of land under the control of the Turkish, American or any other forces should think again,” he said.

Hasan also commented that the supply of Russia’s S-300 air defense systems as part of Moscow’s response to the Israeli air strikes in Syria that led to the accidental downing of a Russian airliner, according to the official story, minimized the possibility of Israel’s Syria ambitions to be successful.

Syria has been in a state of war since 2011. Government forces face opposition groups and terrorist organizations. Russia, alongside Turkey and Iran, is one of the guarantors of the ceasefire regime in Syria.

Fed Signals Further Rate Increases Amid Strong Economy

WASHINGTON—The Federal Reserve said it would leave key policy rates unchanged, but signaled further gradual rate increases ahead, in response to robust economic growth.

“Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in September indicates that the labor market has continued to strengthen and that economic activity has been rising at a strong rate,” the Fed’s policy statement said.

The Fed decided to keep the benchmark rate at 2 to 2.25 percent at its two-day meeting that concluded Nov. 8.

According to the statement, the central bank “expects that further gradual increases in the target range for the federal funds rate will be consistent with sustained expansion of economic activity, strong labor market conditions, and inflation near the Committee’s symmetric 2 percent objective over the medium term.”

Judicial Watch Sues DOJ for Records of Investigations into the Awan Brothers, Congressional Democrat IT Scandal

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Justice Department for all records of communications relating to the investigation into former Democratic information technology (IT) staffers Abid Awan, Imran Awan, Jamal Awan and Hina R. Alvi (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Justice (No. 1:18-cv-02563)).

Imran Awan and his family were banned from the House computer network in February 2017 after the House’s top law enforcement officer wrote that Imran is “an ongoing and serious risk to the House of Representatives, possibly threatening the integrity of our information systems,” and that a server containing evidence had gone “missing.” The inspector general said server logs showed “unauthorized access” and procurement records were falsified.

Imran Awan was Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s top information technology aide. Most lawmakers fired Awan in February, but Wasserman Schultz kept him on until he was arrested in July, trying to board a flight for Pakistan.

Imran Awan was allowed a plea deal. He pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud but prosecutors found no evidence that Awan “violated federal law with respect to the House computer systems.”

The Judicial Watch lawsuit was filed after the FBI failed to respond adequately to two FOIA requests.

The FBI claimed it could neither confirm nor deny records related to the first request, filed on May 26, 2017, seeking:

All records related to any investigations or preliminary investigations involving former congressional IT support staffers Abid Awan, Imran Awan, Jamal Awan, and Hina R. Alvi. As part of this request, searches should of records [sic] should include, but not be limited to, the FBI automated indices, its older manual indices, and its Electronic Surveillance (ELSUR) Data Management System (EDMS), as well as cross-referenced files.

All records of communication sent to or from FBI employees, officials or contractors involving the subjects in bullet item 1.

The timeframe for the requested records is May 2015 to the present.

Further, the FBI claimed that records related to a July 3, 2018, FOIA request were located in an investigative file and exempt from disclosure. That request sought:

All records related to any investigations or preliminary investigations involving former congressional IT support staffers Abid Awan, Imran Awan, Jamal Awan, Hina R. Alvi and Rao Abbas. As part of this request, searches of records should include, but not be limited to, the FBI automated indices, its older manual indices, and its Electronic Surveillance (ELSUR) Data Management System (EDMS), as well as cross-referenced files.

All records of communications, including but not limited to emails (whether on .gov or non-.gov email accounts), text messages, instant chats or messages on the Lync system, sent to or from FBI employees, officials or contractors involving the Awan brothers, Ms. Alvi and Mr. Abbas. Records of communications searched should include but not be limited to those between FBI officials, employees and contractors and officials with the Capitol Police, the Office of the Inspector General of the House, and the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer of the House.

“It’s time for the full truth to come out about the House Democrat IT scandal, especially with impending change of power in the House,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “There is hope that the new leadership at the DOJ will bring transparency to this case, as well as many pending FOIA investigations.”
